New Delhi:Andy Flower has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League 2026 Code of Conduct during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Mumbai Indians.
According to an official IPL statement, Flower was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the tournament’s Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of audible obscenity during a match.
The incident reportedly took place during the 17.2 over of the contest when the RCB head coach became involved in an aggressive exchange with the fourth umpire. Flower later admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment imposed by match referee Amit Sharma.
Despite the controversy on the sidelines, RCB secured a dramatic two wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in a tense encounter at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, which served as Bengaluru’s second home venue this season.
The win proved crucial for the defending champions as it strengthened their position at the top of the points table while simultaneously eliminating Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants from playoff contention.
Mumbai Indians posted 166 for 7 after Naman Dhir top scored with 47 runs. However, Bengaluru successfully chased down the target thanks to a brilliant innings from Krunal Pandya, who smashed 73 off 46 deliveries in a match winning knock.
RCB also received a major boost from veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who claimed four wickets for 23 runs and earned the Player of the Match award after dismantling Mumbai’s batting lineup early in the innings.
The final over turned into a dramatic finish as Rasikh Salam scrambled two runs off the last delivery to seal victory for Bengaluru. Costly wides and a no ball in the closing stages added to Mumbai’s struggles as the five time champions suffered their eighth defeat in 11 matches.
