CALANGUTE: A resort manager has been arrested by the Calangute Police following allegations of molestation made by a 22-year-old woman. The alleged incident reportedly occurred near Porbawaddo in Calangute on the night of July 13.
Police identified the accused as Avinash Singh. Based on the woman’s complaint, an FIR was registered and a case was filed under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman.
According to investigators, the complainant alleged that the accused made inappropriate physical contact with her during the incident. Police initiated an investigation immediately after receiving the complaint and subsequently took the accused into custody.
Following his arrest, Singh was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), who remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Police said they are recording statements of witnesses and gathering evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials stated that all aspects of the complaint are being examined, and further investigation is underway by the Calangute Police.
