PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) has taken up modernization of cruise facilities by developing the International and Domestic Cruise Building and also other ancillary facilities like Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax are under construction and will be planned by March 2024.

He further said that As per Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) the authority has created the facilities for berthing of International and Domestic Cruise vessels by constructing a Dedicated Berth in 2012.
“As per Mormugoa Port Authority (MPA) in 2007, Government of India has rationalized the cruise traffic for the cruise vessels calling at Major ports in India,” he added
Minister said that currently the Cruise tariff is $0.085/ GRT and $6/ passenger. E-visa facilities are already being provided by Bureau of Immigration for facilitating the Cruise Tourism.
He said that the Tourism Master Plan formulated by the Government focuses on all the facets of tourism including development of Cruise Tourism in order to attract highend tourists in the State.
At Mormugao Port Cruise vessels have been calling since 2007. Further dedicated Cruise berth is built in 2012 to promote Cruise Tourism. Now, based on directions of Government of India, Mormugao Port is developing International and Domestic Cruise Terminal.
