BAGA: A case of road rage has been registered by Calangute Police following a complaint filed by a 19-year-old student, Gauresh Vernekar, over an alleged assault and vehicle damage incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday.
According to police, the incident took place on May 4 at around 5:00 am near Tripathi wine shop, located close to the Calangute–Baga circle in Bardez. The complainant stated that five unidentified men, travelling in a silver Maruti Suzuki Ritz (registration number GA-06-D-5652), confronted him and his friends.
The accused allegedly abused the group, issued threats, and physically assaulted them using slaps and kicks, causing simple injuries. The complainant further alleged that the group also damaged his white Hyundai Venue (registration number GA-04-H-1045), resulting in property loss.
Police have registered an offence in the matter and begun an investigation. PSI Vishwajit Dhavlikar is conducting further inquiries to identify and trace the accused involved in the incident.
