PANAJI: The Goa University Inter Collegiate Football Championship 2026-27 for Women entered the knockout stage on September 25, with four quarterfinals producing a total of 22 goals across Rosary and Chowgule College grounds.
At Rosary Ground, Don Bosco College, Panjim opened the quarterfinals with a commanding 5-0 victory over Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar. Blessica Rodrigues opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Aniella Barretto doubled the lead in the 11th minute. Simran Narvekar added another in the 23rd minute, while Rodrigues struck again in the 35th and 54th minutes to complete her hat-trick.
St Xavier’s College, Mapusa also booked its place in the semifinals after defeating Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem 3-1. Delina Fernandes gave St Xavier’s the lead in the 33rd minute. Geuel D’Souza extended the advantage in the 61st minute before Elena Pereira made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute.
P.G. Goa University edged Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao in a dramatic quarterfinal. The match ended 2-2 after regular time before P.G. Goa University won the penalty shootout 3-2. Pushpa Parab scored twice for P.G. Goa University in the third and 25th minutes, while Ajury Silva and another Don Bosco strike brought the match level. Pushpa Parab, Anisha Mahale and Chelsea Barreto converted for P.G. Goa University in the shootout.
At Chowgule College Ground, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim produced the biggest win of the day, defeating Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem 12-0.
Ria Pinto scored a hat-trick, while Prissy Pereira, Swellen Fernandes, Vinoska Fernandes and Merecia Tavares also found the net. Fatima Braganza and Zuriel Tavares scored two goals each, with Ria Rajesh completing the tally.
The semifinals will be played on September 30 at the Goa University Ground, Taleigao. Don Bosco College, Panjim will face St Xavier’s College, Mapusa at 9:30 am, while P.G. Goa University will meet Rosary College, Navelim at 1:30 pm.
