PANAJI: Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that developmental works worth Rs 12000 Cr have been completed in Goa since 2014.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the 4 Lane section from Loutolim Village to IDC Verna on NH-566 in Goa today.
“Development works worth Rs 12000 cores, has been completed in Goa since 2014 and I am happy to fulfil the needs of the people of Goa,” said Gadkari after inaugurating the of a four-lane 4 section from Loutolim to IDC, Verna in the state.
He further said that his wish was that Goa should be a world-class tourist destination.
“Today we dedicate to the nation 3.84 km four-lane section on National Highway No. 566 from Loutolim village to Verna Industrial Corporation, in Goa. The total cost of the project is Rs 184.05 crore,” he said
The union minister also said that it will reduce travel distance from Ponda Town to Marmagao by 12 km, thus reducing travel time by 30 mins.
PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar said that Gadkari has always paid special attention to the development of Goa.
“NHAI_Official and MORTH India always make timely payment to PWD Department for road works; Most of the road projects in the state will be completed by Dec, ’21,” said Pauskar.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that under the guidance of Nitin Gadkari, India’s third-biggest bridge, which is being built on the Zuari river, will be a major tourist attraction in Goa.
“We are developing a sightseeing spot centring it,” said CM Sawant.
CM also said that the union government has already sanctioned the new Borim bridge, but there is a slight delay from the government side as the authorities are yet to complete the land acquisition proceedings.
Speaking on the inaugural of the missing Link Road, CM said that it has not completed smooth connectivity between North & South.
“This was a tedious process, and it would not be possible without the efforts of PWD engineers.
