DABOLIM: A tragic accident near Dabolim Airport claimed the life of a scooter rider, Mahadev Madar, a resident of New Vaddem, Vasco. Madar succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC) Bambolim, as per a wireless message received from the Casualty Police of GMC.
According to the Vasco Police, the incident occurred when Madar, along with pillion rider Mabusab Nadaf, was traveling from Dabolim Junction to Varunapuri on a Suzuki scooter on Friday evenings . Near Dabolim Airport, Madar reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crashed into a road divider, and sustained severe injuries. Both the rider and the pillion were injured, but Madar’s condition was critical, leading to his demise during treatment.
Following the incident, an inquest panchnama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem at GMC Bambolim. The autopsy, conducted by the police surgeon, determined the cause of death as “head injury consequent to blunt force impact by surface and/or object.” The viscera has been preserved for chemical analysis. The deceased’s body was later handed over to the family for final rites.
Vasco Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The enquiry is being conducted by PSI Nikhil Dessai under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
