FARMAGUDI: While stating that for BJP, Goa is a “dot on the forehead of Mother India”, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who launched the party’s LS campaign, failed to address the crucial Mhadei inter-state diversion issue.
While Shah had made a definite mention of Mhadei during his poll campaign in Belgavi District for Karnataka elections, in Goa, he preferred to remain silent.
Shah today also assured that mining activities in the state would resume within a year’s time.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was addressing a public rally at Farmagudi at Ponda to kick off BJP’s Lok Sabha election campaign.
“Mining activities in the state would resume within a year’s time. Goa government, in consultation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resolved long pending mining issue,’ said Shah.
He further expressed confidence that BJP will get both the Lok Sabha seats of North Goa and South Goa and in the coming days, we will fulfil all the promises here and come before you.
“The karykartas here have assured me that BJP will get both the Lok Sabha seats in the coming polls,” he added.
Shah said that during the rule of Congress, Goa was given only Rs 432 crore, which has been increased to Rs 3,000 crore annually under PM Modi’s leadership.
“Congress could’ve done development. However, they promote corruption, dynasty, and casteism. Only BJP does politics of development, and therefore in the last nine years, today, India is the fifth largest economy in the world,” he said.
Shah said that when BJP won in the states of the northeast, Kharge said that these were just small states, and thus the victory was insignificant.
“These are small states but are integral parts of the country. They are as important as the big states,” Shah said.
