MARGAO: Preparations for the Goa Legislative Assembly Elections 2027 gathered momentum as South Goa Collector and District Election Officer (DEO) Ms Egna Cleetus, IAS, chaired a review meeting with designated nodal officers to assess the readiness of various election-related activities.
The meeting was attended by Additional Collector-I Shri Srinet Kothwale and Additional Collector-II Shri Ramesh Gaonkar, along with nodal officers responsible for Law and Order, EVM Management, Manpower Management, Training, Material Management, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), IT Applications, Postal Ballots, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Strong Room and Counting, Medical Facilities, Accessible Elections, Transport Management, Communication Plan and other key election-related responsibilities.
During the meeting, officials were informed that the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will commence from August 3, 2026, in South Goa district and from August 17, 2026, in Kushavati district. The concerned nodal officers were directed to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed well in advance.
The meeting also discussed the finalisation of the District Election Management Plan (DEMP), which is scheduled to be completed by July 2026. The concerned nodal officer has been tasked with deciding the modalities and timeline for its publication.
Officials further informed that the training programme for poll personnel is tentatively scheduled for September 2026, with preparatory work to begin accordingly. The Nodal Officer for Observer Coordination was instructed to ensure the timely submission of arrival reports and other mandatory reports.
The administration also reviewed the procurement and submission of election materials, which is expected to be completed by August 2026. In addition, the layout and arrangements for the Strong Room, where EVMs and election materials will be securely stored, were discussed, and necessary action was planned to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process.
