PANAJI: Conditions are favourable for the further advance of the Southwest monsoon into some more parts of the central Arabian Sea. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Southwest Monsoon will further advance over some parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the Konkan belt, including Goa, in the next two to three days.
The monsoon will also advance over the remaining parts of the Bay of Bengal, northeastern states and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the coming few days. The monsoon reached Kerala on May 29.
The IMD, in its weather bulletin, said, “Southwest Monsoon has advanced over some more parts of central Arabian Sea, some parts of Karnataka, entire Kerala, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, entire the southeast Bay of Bengal, some more parts of southwest Bay of Bengal, most parts of East-central Bay of Bengal, some parts of Westcentral and Northeast Bay of Bengal.”
Under the influence of monsoonal westerly winds from the Arabian Sea, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning is very likely over Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep. The weather agency also predicted scattered to fairly widespread rain over Karnataka and isolated to scattered over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.
