ST ESTEVEM: Old Goa police today have resumed search operations for Gujarati businessman Bashudev Bhandari, who mysteriously disappeared after a rental car plunged into St Estevam river on the night of August 31.
Deep sea searches and drone surveillance with the help of the Indian Navy and Fire personnel have begun today, police said.
“Our search operation was on and the team was at the site looking out for the missing person,” Old Goa Police Chief Satish Padwalkar stated. We are currently carrying out a thorough search using drone surveillance and deep-water exploration as of right now.
The incident happened on August 31st, when Bhandari’s rental car, which he was driving with a female companion who was also from Gujarat, plunged into the river. Bhandari vanished, even though the girl—a management institute student—managed to swim ashore.
Before the incident, the two got into a small collision with another car at Marcela. Desperate to get away, they drove off, but the other car followed them. In the process, Bhandari lost control of the automobile and crashed it into the river at St Estevam after driving onto a ferry ramp.
The 22-year-old man is feared to have drowned after his car plunged into a river while evading another vehicle at St Estevem in the wee hours of Aug 31.
However, despite a thorough search operation involving trained divers, Bhandari has not yet been found.
Police information reveals that in Marcel Village, Bhandari collided with another automobile while travelling with a female companion.
According to the information, Bhandari was speeding when the other automobile pursued him.
The recovered car contained several personal belongings, including Bhandari’s pants, a laptop, and two or three bags.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about safety and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the chase.
