PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the state government is firm on the IIT Goa project at Sanguem.
“We are firm that the IIT Goa project is final at Sanguem. The land identified is our government land & we do not need permission from others to go ahead with the project,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that the IIT Goa project at Sanguem will bring prosperity to the constituency in terms of jobs and other revenues.
“While working towards making Goa an educational hub, It is our vision to support IIT Goa so it becomes the best technical institute in the country. As we all know, that country is transforming its educational policy. In this regard, IIT Goa will have to play a significant role in the effective implementation of New Education Policy 2020 at the grass root level,” Sawant said.
Sawant had said that it was the dream of Manohar Parrikar to establish IIT in Goa.
He is an alumni of the IIT system and understood the transforming power of the top technology institute in the overall development of the state.
“The government is making all-out efforts to develop the manpower of the state into skilled manpower with the help of IIT, NIT, GIM, BITS Pilani and other engineering colleges,” he said.
Sawant said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a call for a ‘New India’ formation for which futuristic education needs to be planned.
He sought the support and cooperation of the people and institutions to achieve this goal.
