PANAJI: Minister for Water Resources Subash Shirodkar has appealed to the general public not to throw garbage in Nullahs. Maintain the State’s natural beauty, he said and warned that strict action would be initiated against those who misuse the Nullahs in the State.
Additional pipelines to Kushavati to Davorlim and Davorlim to Verna are the two projects the WRD Minister intends to prioritise to solve the scarcity of water in these areas, he mentioned.
Shirodkar visited Verna Industrial Estate and Shri Aleixo Reginald Laurenco, Chairman, IDC and WRD Officers. He saw two plants in Verna, namely IFB and CIPLA, and discussed the various issues about water supply.
Shirodkar expressed satisfaction over the ongoing water harvesting projects at some of the plants at Verna Industrial Estate, which he said are highly commendable. More plants should come forward and follow such practices to overcome the shortage of water, he added.
Speaking further, Shri Shirodkar mentioned the water harvesting process and said this is one of the beautiful processes of self-sustenance. He said Natural Resources should be preserved and can be used for daily use.
Replying to the media about scarcity of water WRD Minister said his main objective in visiting the Verna Industrial Estate site is to ascertain and learn the reasons for shortages, which will be taken care of after discussing with the HODs of the Departments; the Minister added.
Pawan Koul, Plant Head of IFB and Shri Sanjay Mishra and Shri Pankaj Shitole, Site Heads of CIPLA welcomed the Minister and the IDC Chairman during their visit.
