Panaji: Sufiya Shaikh emerged as the biggest star of the All Goa State Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026, claiming an impressive triple crown during the opening ranking event of the 2026-27 season held at the Indoor Hall in Peddem. Organised by Mapusa Shuttlers under the aegis of the Goa Badminton Association, the tournament showcased some of the state’s most promising young badminton talents.
Competing in the Under-19 category, Sufiya dominated across three disciplines. She secured the Girls Singles title with a commanding 15-8, 15-8 victory over Shivanjali Thite. The pair then joined forces to win the Girls Doubles crown, defeating Aarohi Coutoncar and Dimple Revankar 15-11, 15-8. Sufiya completed her memorable campaign in the Mixed Doubles event, partnering Shaheen C.K. to register a hard-fought 17-15, 11-15, 15-11 win over Aswin Mannambalath and Aarohi Coutoncar.
Shaheen added a second title to his tally by teaming up with Aswin Mannambalath in the Boys Doubles final. The duo produced a strong performance to overcome Advait Balakrishnan and Vansh Khedkar 15-13, 15-6 and secure the championship.
The Under-13 division also produced standout performances, with Amaira Dhumatker and Michael Ryan Mare each winning two titles. Amaira lifted the Girls Singles trophy after defeating Komal Kothari 15-4, 15-8 before partnering her in the Girls Doubles final, where they defeated Anvitha Poojari and Ashbah Tahasildar 15-5, 15-6.
Michael enjoyed a similarly successful outing, capturing the Boys Singles title with a 15-7, 15-11 victory over Pratik Naik Borkar. He later teamed up with Ayansh Sanke to claim the Boys Doubles crown, defeating Pratik Naik Borkar and Varun Sahakari 15-10, 15-9.
In another highlight of the tournament, Advait Balakrishnan clinched the Under-19 Boys Singles title after overcoming Shaheen C.K. 15-13, 15-9 in a high-quality final featuring two of Goa’s leading junior badminton players.
