CUNCOLIM: Goa Police are conducting an enquiry following the death of an 18-year-old youth who allegedly consumed kerosene mixed with pesticide by mistake at his residence in South Goa.
According to police information, on May 2, 2026, police received a wireless message from Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, informing that patient Rohit Kumbar alias Rohit Naik, 18, resident of Assolna, had expired during treatment.
During enquiry, police found that the deceased had been admitted to GMC Bambolim on April 19, 2026 after allegedly consuming kerosene mixed with pesticide at his residence at Kumborda, Sarzora.
Further enquiry revealed that the substance had reportedly been kept in the kitchen and was allegedly consumed by mistake.
Police conducted a scene of unnatural death occurrence panchanama and an inquest panchanama over the dead body. The body was later referred for post-mortem examination.
Police Surgeon who conducted the autopsy certified the cause of death as multi-organ damage in a person with an alleged history of pesticide consumption.
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for final religious rites.
Further enquiry in the case is being conducted by PSI Sahil Pagui of Cuncolim Police Station.
