PANAJI: Goa’s young badminton sensation Aarush Pawaskar has made a major jump in the BWF U19 Men’s Singles rankings, rising 28 places to World No. 89 with 3,790 points.
The 16 year old’s latest breakthrough follows an impressive European campaign, highlighted by a bronze medal at the Victor Bulgarian Junior Open International 2026. Aarush won four of his five matches at the tournament and produced one of his biggest victories by defeating Bulgaria’s second seed and World No. 21 Teodor Mitev in a thrilling three game contest.
The achievement further strengthens Aarush’s growing reputation on the international junior circuit. He had previously claimed a silver medal at the prestigious France Open U17 in 2025, marking another important milestone in his development.
Aarush is currently training at Simply Sports Badminton Academy in Bengaluru under former Olympian and National Champion Arvind Bhat. Earlier in his career, he also trained under former India player and coach Uttsav Mishra, who played an important role in shaping his game.
His rapid rise has earned appreciation from the Goa badminton fraternity. The Goa Badminton Association has backed his progress alongside his family and coaching team, while Goa Carbon Limited and Solas Marine have also supported his journey.
Aarush’s recent performances have added to an impressive record that includes a National Quarterfinal appearance and two international medals. His rise into the world’s top 100 at just 16 highlights his growing potential on the global stage.
With his ranking continuing to improve, Aarush is now targeting an even bigger milestone: breaking into the BWF U19 World Top 50 and establishing himself among the leading junior shuttlers in the world.
