PANAJI: With the tourist season in full flow, the COVID19 threat seems to be looming large on Goa as three of the passengers who arrived from UK today morning tested positive for the deadly virus.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that samples had been sent for genome sequencing.
The flight is the 101st under the Vande Bharat Mission and has arrived from London’s Heathrow Airport.
Prior to this 3 passengers from UK and 5 sailors including 3 Russians and 2 Georgians had tested positive for Covid.
Their samples were also sent to Pune labs for genome sequencing.
Reports of 4 of the sailors that were received from Pune labs stated that they were negative for the omicron variant of covid while one sample was sent for retesting. All other reports are awaited.
