PANAJI: The Transport Department has issued a show cause notice to BMW driver Jagdish Sardessai, fixing June 4 as the date for a personal hearing in connection with the Dona Paula accident case.
Officials said the hearing has been scheduled to examine whether his driving licence should be suspended or permanently cancelled following the incident involving a BMW car that allegedly collided with multiple vehicles in the Dona Paula area.
Acting on a communication from Panaji Police, the Transport Department initiated proceedings after the driver was booked for rash and negligent driving and alleged driving under the influence of alcohol. Police had earlier recommended suspension of his driving licence and also took a bond of ₹75,000 before granting him bail.
Although no injuries were reported in the incident, CCTV footage reviewed by investigators reportedly showed the vehicle moving at high speed before swerving into the wrong lane and hitting a parked jeep and another oncoming vehicle.
