THIVIM: Colvale Police have solved a theft case involving concealed electric wires worth ₹1.6 lakh from an under-construction house in Thivim, arresting two accused from West Bengal and recovering the stolen property.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by Rauji Salgaonkar, a resident of Madel, Thivim, who reported that unknown persons had stolen concealed electric wires from his under-construction house during the intervening night of June 25 and 26. The value of the stolen property was estimated at ₹1.6 lakh.
Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (North) Harish Madkaikar, a police team led by Colvale Police Inspector Sanjit Kandolkar, along with PSI Dattaraj Rane and Police Constables Anand Rathod, Sudesh Kerkar and Nikhil Naik, launched an intensive investigation.
The team verified CCTV footage from the locality, identified the suspects, and gathered intelligence that led to their arrest.
The accused have been identified as Mehafu Ali Sarkar (21), a resident of Shrinathbali, Jahangirpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, and Hafijur Ali Molla (29), a resident of Tulat, Kumarganj, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.
Police recovered the stolen electric wires and attached the property under a panchanama. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were involved in other similar theft cases.
