PANAJI: Taleigao police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly demanding money, issuing death threats and setting a car on fire outside a residence at Chincholem, Taleigao.
According to police, the complaint was lodged on May 14 at around 6:05 pm by Antonio Cruz, a resident of Chincholem, Taleigao.
Police said the incident took place on May 12 and May 13 at around 1:45 am, when the accused, identified as Ronny D’Souza from St. Inez, Panaji, and Akash Mudraj from Tiswadi, allegedly demanded money from the complainant.
Upon refusal, accused Ronny D’Souza allegedly threatened the complainant with dire consequences and threatened to kill him, police said.
The complaint further stated that accused Akash Mudraj allegedly intentionally set fire to the complainant’s Skoda Fabia car bearing registration number GA-07-E-7783, which was parked outside the house close to where the complainant and his family members were asleep.
Police said the act created the possibility of the fire spreading to the house, thereby endangering the lives and property of the family. The accused also allegedly damaged the same vehicle using a tool, causing further loss to the complainant.
