Skill Gap Study is under preparation by Agency appointed by dept, says Sawant

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the state government has been making provisions and increasing the scope of ITIs while stating that two years of ITI after SSC is equivalent to HSSC.
“We will conduct a survey iof Higher Secondary Schools in Mormugao taluka before allowing extra division. Two years of ITI after SSC equivalent to HSSC,” said CM Sawant.
Sawant today said that the state government has tied up with Tata to create model ITIs in Goa.
“The state government has tied up with Tata to create model ITIs in Goa. One has already been done at Althino with the help of the union government,” said Sawant.
He further said that these model ITIs will be a game changer as students will have on-site training and skills.
He further said that the state government and Tata Group will invest Rs 230 crore to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Goa.
There are 10 government and three private ITIs in the state and 43 courses are conducted in these ITIs.
Sawant said that the courses under CTS are selected based on the guidelines, DGT, MSDE,
GoI is based on the current and emerging demand of local Industry.
“The courses selected under PMKVY are as per the list of courses released under the PMKVY scheme by MSDE, GoI based on the current demand of the local industry.
He said that the Skill Gap Study is under preparation by
Agency appointed by the Department.
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said that there is a need for higher secondary’s in Mormugao as there are only three Higher Secondary Schools in Vasco Mormugao Jurisdiction & students need to travel more than 10KM to other HSSCs.
