VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar, along with the South Western Railway officers, Deputy collector of Mormugao, and PWD engineers, held a joint inspection of the Udi- Belabaim area for the purpose of ongoing railway works for double-tracking.
After the site inspection, Vasco MLA Salkar said that precautionary measures have been taken to safeguard the existing houses of the locals from Udi.
He further added that this road stretch will have a footpath, cross drain, and a 1-meter buffer gap from the road. This will ensure the safety of the pedestrians, and the cross drain will solve the flooding issue from the low-lying area of the Udi-Belabaim area from Vasco.
It may be recalled that in the Udi-Belabaim road stretch, the South Western Railway has been undertaking double-tracking-related works. The residents were worried as they feared that their houses may be harmed due to the ongoing works of the railway.
The joint inspection by the Vasco MLA and the railway and other government authorities cleared the air by mentioning that this road stretch will have a cross drain, dedicated footpath for pedestrians, and a gap of one meter from the existing houses, which will keep these houses safe.
