MANDREM: Mandrem Police have arrested a 41-year-old Ukrainian national for allegedly staying illegally in India without valid travel documents.
According to the complaint lodged by PSI Laximan S. Dessai of Mandrem Police Station, the accused, identified as Dmytro Stepanov, son of Nikolai Stepanov, was found at Madhalamaz in Mandrem, Pernem, on May 6 at around 1:30 pm.
Police alleged that the foreign national was residing in Goa without a valid visa or other legal travel documents, thereby violating provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Based on the complaint, Mandrem Police registered Crime No. 45/2026 under Section 23(a) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
The accused was placed under arrest at Mandrem Police Station later the same evening. Police said intimation regarding the arrest was given to Norman T. Fernandes, a resident of Margao and a friend of the accused.
Further investigation is being carried out by ASI T. Patil of Mandrem Police Station.
