THIVIM: Villagers and activists criticised the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) for choosing to give World Peace University a preliminary license to operate on property owned by Comunidade of Thivim.
The villagers said that it seems that the government is attempting to seize comunidade land in the name of promoting investment, as seen by its acceptance of the plan to build a private institution on two lakh square meters of ground.
“Ahead of time, the Investment Promotion Board also received land. To what extent does this assist us is the question. There seems to be a sales conspiracy. The government seems committed to destroying the Goan territory,” said Congress leader Tulio de Sousa.
The villagers said that they first killed mining, then hills, and now it wants to bring massive projects to the state to finish off the property.
“If we ever need land, where will we obtain it from? Land in Comunidades is necessary for our next generation, ” he added.
Meanwhile, the Thivim village panchayat today has asked for objections and suggestions if any to be submitted to the Director of Industries, Trade and Commerce, Government of Goa, Panaji, Goa or to this Village Panchayat Tivim before September 25.
