PANAJI: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut today said that his party will withdraw its candidature from the Panaji constituency if Utpal Parrikar decides to contest as an independent candidate provided he does not align with BJP later.
“Will withdraw its candidature from Panaji constituency if Utpal Parrikar decides to contest as an independent candidate provided he does not align with BJP later”, said Raut
Shiv Sena today announced its first list wherein Shailendra Velingkar has been given the ticket to contest from Panaji.
“If Utpal fights the election as an independent candidate, then Shiv Sena and NCP jointly are there in his support. Goan people are emotional about Utapal and BJP not giving him a ticket would upset the Goans,” he said.
He further said that it’s up to Utpal Parrikar to decide whether to contest the elections or not.
“His family has a huge contribution in establishing the BJP in Goa. We will support him if he contests elections independently,” he added.
