MAPUSA: Colvale police have registered an assault case against a man from Revora following a violent dispute linked to a family property matter.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Riya Varkhandkar, 31, a resident of Karkecho Vhal, Revora in Bardez. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening.
Police stated that the accused, identified as Aakash Varkhandkar, who is the complainant’s brother-in-law, allegedly attacked her using an iron instrument locally known as a “thapi” during an argument over family property issues.
The complainant sustained cut and bleeding injuries to her right foot in the assault, police said.
A case has been registered at Colvale Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the accused has been served notice under Section 35(3) of the BNSS.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prakash Ghadi.
