CALANGUTE: Five Calangute eateries were closed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) when it was discovered that they were using unsanitary facilities.
Since last week, the FDA has been waging a campaign against food enterprises in the Calangute panchayat region that operate in unsanitary conditions, including biryani stands.
As part of this action, the five restaurants were closed Tuesday.
Goa decreased the average amount scammed from Rs 9 crore per month in 2023 to Rs 6 crore in 2024, while increasing the lien amount percentage in financial fraud from 6% to 9.8%.
According to the police, Goa’s efforts were recognized throughout India, and by October 2024, the State ranked sixth in the nation for the highest proportion of financial frauds.
In addition, the Panchayat assisted in the seizure of 38 food-related containers from these establishments. Later, food items such as 200 kg of chicken gravy, 50 kg of beef khima, 300 kg of biryani, and 200 kg of roasted onion were thrown out.
Additionally, a seller who was providing unclean raw chicken was apprehended, and 100 kg of raw chicken were confiscated and subsequently disposed of.
