PANAJI: A 41-year-old woman from Arpora was allegedly cheated of ₹1.22 lakh by a man she met through the ‘Bumpy’ dating application.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly posed as a Netherlands national and developed a relationship with the woman after promising to marry her. He later allegedly claimed that he had been detained at Delhi airport after gold articles were found in his possession and sought money from her.
The woman allegedly transferred a total of ₹1.22 lakh to the accused.
Anjuna Police have registered a case under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a Zero FIR registered by the Cyber Crime Cell.
Further investigation is underway.
