PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHE) on Tuesday announced the SSC results 2020 in which 92.69 percent students cleared the examination.
Out of 18,939 students who appeared for the examination 17,554 cleared it. The girls pass percentage was 93.7 while Boys pass percentage stood at 92.08 percent.
GBSHSE chairman Ramakrishna Samant addressing the media said that for the academic year 2019-20, the total pass percentage is 92.69 percent which is almost the same to 2019.
“Out of total 9620 girl students, who answered the exams, 8973 cleared it with a pass percentage of 93.27 percent. Total 8581 boys cleared the exams out of 9319 who appeared with pass percentage of 92.08 percent.” said Samant
He added “Since last five years, the pass percentage has seen a increasing trend, which can be attributed to students performance along with benefits of grace, sports and internal marks.”
As per statistics, A total 7073 students had applied to avail sports marks, only 273 candidates were passed using the Sports merit marks. The percentage of students passing with Sports merit marks is only 1.56 percent.
Mangueshi centre (98.06 percent) recorded the highest percent passing while Quepem centre recorded the lowest (86.85percent).
Meanwhile, 21.08 percent students managed to score between 75-100 percent overall marks. Total 33.51 percent students have scored first class with pass percentage of between 60-74 percent, while 35.79 percent candidates have obtained second class and range between 45-59 percent marks. Only 8.82 percent students are in the pass class division scoring between 33-44 percent marks.
The examination was delayed due to Covid and was conducted from 21 to June 6, across 23 centres and 173 sub-centres of which four were in Maharashtra and two bordering Karnataka.
“The supplementary examination will tentatively be held from September 3, upon permission from state government and covid situation.” GBSHSE informed
