Vasco: A 60 km cycle ride was organised by the Goa Naval Area in association with tri-Goa on 19 December 2021 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the liberation of Goa. Around 500 riders, including serving and retired naval personnel and cycling enthusiasts from Goa participated in the event.
The ride was conducted in four routes commencing from Margao, Ponda, Panaji and Vasco-da-Gama as per the available information.
Rear Admiral Philipose G Tinkesh Kaushik, a differently-abled fitness trainer, was felicitated by FOGA during the event.
At 9 years of age, Tinkesh faced grave adversities due to a tragic accident. He has overcome myriad challenges and pursued his passion with sheer grit and determination.
On 09 December 2021, he became the first Asian triple amputee to Scuba dive in the open sea. Tinkesh participated from Madgaon and cycled 60 km to participate in the commemorative Diamond Jubilee event.
Pynumootil, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area, was the Chief Guest for a felicitation ceremony held at INS Gomantak. The venue of the felicitation was aptly chosen, being close to the site where the surrender document was signed 60 years ago that signalled the liberation of Goa.
