CANACONA: Armed with a new MV Act 2019 fines on traffic violations, Canacona traffic police get cracking, particularly on two and four-wheelers along Canacona roads.
Interestingly, not many violators, particularly 2-wheelers, could be tracked, whereas around 22 cases were booked, collecting total fines (as per new tariff) of Rs.12,500/- till 1 pm on Friday.
Two traffic teams were placed on NH-66 road at Gulem and Polem sections, while Canacona Traffic Cell PI Vinayak Patil himself led the movable team to challenge the traffic violations alongside the main roads in Canacona.
Thirteen cases were booked against tinted glasses, four against Drivers without Uniform, three cases against 2-wheeler riders for not wearing helmets, one case against the non-wearing of Seat-Belt one for Not having a Side Mirror, collecting a total fine of Rs 12,500/-.
After the new MV Act implementation with hefty fines for traffic violations came into effect from Thursday midnight, Canacona Traffic Cell(Police) formed two teams stationed at the two stations early Friday morning. At the same time, PI Patil himself is seen taking rounds on internal roads, including MDR of Canacona taluka, for any traffic violations.
According to PI Vinayak Patil, the crackdown on traffic violations will continue, and any violators found/tracked would be challenged as per new fines.
