Goemkaponn Desk PANAJI: The Director of Mines and Geology has issued a show cause notice to mining firm Damodar Mangalji & Co for alleged illegal mining in Pissurlem. The notice, issued based on complaints filed by one Gajanan Vasant Parab, is to be replied within 15 days. The complainant had alleged that the firm was involved in illegal extraction and sale of ore since February 2020. Filing to reply to the notice will  force the department to initiate action against the firm.

He said that out of 118 cases so far 31 have been charge sheeted and 56 cases had been closed while there are no cases which have resulted in convictions.
