PONDA: In an online cheating case, one bank customer, a resident of Patantali Bandora, was looted by the fraudster to the tune of Rs 26000 after he shared a one-time password( OTP) with the cheater, and soon after, money was removed from his Bank account.
The Customer filed a complaint with Ponda Police Station. According to the complainant, the incident took place on Saturday Morning.
According to the complainant, he had planned to buy a washing machine and called a customer care centre. However, he did not receive any response to his call.
A few minutes later, he received a call claiming to be from the customer care centre.
The Customer wanted to buy a washing machine, so he took the help of the customer care centre and paid advance money of Rs 2000 through google pay and while doing this, he also shared his OTP with the unknown person claiming to be from the customer care centre.
Soon after that, another message from his Bank on his phone informing him that he had withdrawn Rs 26000, following which he was shocked and realized that he was cheated after sharing OTP.
The complainant youth is working at Verna Industrial Estate.
