PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has alleged that coordinated personal and political attacks launched against him reflect the growing nervousness within the BJP government over the revival of the Congress party in the state.
In a press statement issued on 02 June 2026, Chodankar said the “speed, intensity and coordination” of the alleged attacks following his assumption of charge as GPCC President indicate a politically motivated campaign aimed at weakening the opposition.
He claimed that the ruling party is attempting to divert attention from key governance issues such as unemployment, infrastructure gaps, power disruptions, corruption allegations, environmental concerns, and rising public grievances.
Chodankar further alleged that instead of addressing public issues, the government has been engaging in propaganda and using “proxy elements” to target political opponents.
“The Chief Minister and the government should focus on governance rather than managing political narratives. People of Goa are seeking answers on jobs, electricity, healthcare, education, law and order, and resource exploitation,” he stated.
Reiterating his stance, the GPCC chief said such attacks would not deter him and instead would strengthen his resolve to continue his political campaign against the government.
He added that the Congress party would continue working to strengthen its organisational base across Goa and hold the government accountable for its decisions, asserting that the public can distinguish between governance and propaganda.
