PANJIM: Calangute Police on Saturday arrests 5 people for organising an IPL betting racket at Baga.
Cash amount of Rs 25,440/- , 15 mobile phones, 3 Laptops all worth Rs 2,50,000/- were seized by the police during the raid.
This is the third IPL betting case registered at Calangute Police Station within a month.
Acting on prior and specific information, Calangute Police Team comprising of PI Nolasco Raposo, PSI Rajaram Bhagkar, Head Constable Vinod Naik, Police Constable Vinay Shrivastav conducted a raid in a room at Tao Palace, Baga, Calangute on 10/10/2020 night time and apprehended five accused persons namely 1) Manoj Thadani aged 39 years r/o Indore, M.P. 2) Bunty Dangi, aged 32 years r/o Indore, M.P. 3) Chintu Dhoidhoy aged 28 years r/o Indore, M.P. 4) Rupesh Singh, aged 41 years r/o Mumbai 5) Jagdish Nepali, aged 47 years r/o Nepal while being involved in IPL betting during cricket match played between CSK and Royal Challengers, Bengalaru.
The accused persons were subsequently arrested in the criminal case registered at Calangute Police Station for contravening section 3 and 4 of the Goa Public Gambling Act.
Further investigation is carried out by PSI Vikas Deykar under the supervision of PI Nolasco Raposo and overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Shri Edwin Colaco and SP North Shri Utkrisht Prasoon.
