MARGAO: A man from Canacona has allegedly been cheated of ₹1,00,230 by an unknown person who promised him a job through Cruz Vacancies and collected money under the pretext of processing and visa charges.
According to the complaint filed by Niraj Painginkar, the incident occurred between January 29 and January 30, 2026, while he was near Loyola School in Margao.
The complainant alleged that an unknown person falsely represented that he had been selected for a job through Cruz Vacancies and asked him to pay money towards processing and visa expenses.
Believing the offer to be genuine, Painginkar allegedly transferred ₹1,00,230 through UPI. However, after receiving the payment, the accused allegedly refused to refund the amount and stopped responding to the complainant.
The alleged fraud resulted in financial loss to the complainant, who was deceived by the promise of employment.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Swadesh Dessai of Margao Town Police Station.
