PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that 5,000 youths who register for the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) will be able to join the state government departments directly by July 15.
Addressing a virtual event on July 1, the chief minister said the central government has been focusing on skilling, reskilling and upskilling youths.
Five thousand youngsters who register on the NAPS portal will directly join various departments of the state government as apprentices by July 15, he said. As of now, only 1,200 applicants have registered on the portal, Sawant said, appealing to youngsters to take advantage of the opportunity.
There are openings for jobs in data entry, accounting and for drivers, cleaners among other sections, he said. The chief minister further said that panchayat members and municipal councillors should take over the work of registering youths for NAPS.
As per the national dashboard for this financial year 1,154 Apprentices were engaged in Goa. As on June 23, 2023 total of 4,846 apprentices are undergoing training while 4,260 Apprentices have completed their training.
Total of 21,361 apprentices have been Certified till date. Although 994 Establishments have registered on the portal only 213 are active. As on date Rs 3 crore claims have been disbursed to the beneficiaries.
Skill sets of the registered users will be matched with the opportunities available in the state and apprenticeship will be offered in the corresponding sector to them.
Stipend varying from Rs 8,000 to Rs 13,000 per month will be paid to the apprentice based on qualification. “ It is an ongoing scheme and will continue in the future,”Sawant asserted.
Goa govt has recently notified the Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Policy for Government Establishment—2023 to facilitate appointment of apprentice.
