VASCO: Under the Sagarmala scheme, the Central government is providing monetary support to the Goa government by promoting coastal-nautical tourism in Goa.
MPT has been asked by the govt of India to coordinate with the state govt to pursue ropeway, project, floating pontoons etc, says MPT Deputy Chairman Rai.
Speaking to the reporters, Guruprasad Rai, Deputy Chairman of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) told that the government of India under the Sagarmala scheme gave lots of financial support to the states in which Goa also is getting financial support for coastal, nautical tourism. Under this scheme, the MPT has established two-three pontoons.
He said that in the future, Centre is asking for plans from the state government and they also asking MPT to coordinate with the state government so that we can have a cordial relation and MPT can establish the project cordially.
Disclosing more details about the project work undertaken, Rai informed that there are floating pontoonsin discussion with
“We are in the discussion with the state government in this matter” he added.
It may be recalled that few months ago former MPT chairman had informed media that the ropeway project, RoRo project, International cruise terminal are the three important projects which will boost tourism in Goa. The ropeway project will help tourists and people reach the MPT cruise berth from Donapaula within 15 minutes.
He had also said that the then Minister for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya had been taking updates about the progress of these projects.
