PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for every family of the deceased due to cyclone in the state.
The first order of compensation is hand over to mother of deceased Sheetal Mahadev Patil.
“We are extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to Tauktae cyclone in Goa. The Govt has sanctioned financial assistance of ₹ 4 lakh for every family of the deceased due to cyclone in the State. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this time of grief,” said CM Sawant
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that the entire state of Goa has faced a massive loss of Rs 40 crore due to the Cyclone Tauktae
CM said that power supply to Bardez will be restored by today evening or tomorrow.
“Cyclone Tauktae has left Goa with a massive loss of Rs 40 crore. Around 135 houses were damaged in Bardez Taluka,” said CM
CM also held a virtual meeting and directed all the State Government Departments to work on war footing to restore essential services and also assess the damage in detail.
Earlier on Sunday, the Chief Minister had said that two deaths were reported in Goa due to the cyclone.
The cyclone, which nearly touched Goa, has caused as lot of damage in the state.
The electricity supply in Goa snapped due to the cyclonic storm Tauktae will be restored by Wednesday, the state electricity department said on Tuesday.
Most areas in Goa plunged into darkness on Sunday after high-speed winds coupled with rains uprooted transmission cables, poles and trees.
“We have managed to restore 80 per cent of the snapped electricity supply in Goa. Rest 20 per cent supply would be restored by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning,” a senior official said.
