MARGAO: With rising demand for Oxygen and several deaths due to shortage of the liquid gas, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has said that the supply of Oxygen would be streamlined in a few days.
“I am already in touch with Centre and manufacturers to see the augmentation of Oxygen. Besides, we are expecting the two plants at Goa Medial College and South Goa District Hospital to come up before May 15,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that this will further reduce the shortage of Oxygen in Goa.
“The 5000 Litres capacity oxygen tank is now providing stable supply to the South Goa District hospital. The 600 Litres Per Minute PSA oxygen plant is expected to be commissioned by May 15 2021,” he said.
Sawant said that the SGDH plant may begin operations first as all the equipment’s have arrived and the technicians are waiting for filters only.
“The base is ready and once the filters arrive, the plant will be installed and commissioned,” he stated.
Similarly, he said, Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College is being commissioned today.
“The facility has been equipped with an oxygen tank of 20,000 litres. 150 oxygen beds will be utilized initially for COVID19 patients and the same shall be scaled up as per the requirement,” CM said.
He said as demand increases we are constantly upgrading our facilities.
On the controversy regarding suppliers of Oxygen, he said, “this is not the time to get into those issue. If anyone has done something wrong, we will have enough time to look into it when situation normalises.”
