SANCOALE: Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas urged youths to take up agricultural activities and farming to cultivate unutilised fields. Desilting of nullahs work worth 20 lakh started on Thursday at the hands of MLA Vas.
Much awaited work of desilting of the major nullahs was started in a small function held in the presence of Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas and Sancoale Khazan tenents association members.
Later speaking to Goemkarponn, Antonio Vas Cortalim MLA said that time has come for youths to take up farming and other agricultural activities.
He said that youths need to enter into agriculture and cultivate the unutilised fields once cultivated by their forefathers.
Further, when questioned about the desilting work, he said that the desilting of nullahs from the Sancoale Khazan land area was much needed, and farmers were eagerly waiting for it. Vas further said that farmers from Sancoale met him and requested to pursue this issue, and he, along with the farmers, met WRD minister Subhash Shirodkar who sanctioned this work immediately.
Vas further added that this work of desilting nullahs is worth Rs 20 lakh, and it will help farmers cultivate those Khazan lands that could not be cultivated due to the water-logging and other issues.
