MAPUSA: The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court has granted regular bail to Mapusa Municipal Councillor Tarak Manguesh Arolkar in connection with a forgery case registered by the Crime Branch over an alleged fake caste certificate.
The court directed Arolkar’s release on a personal bond of ₹25,000 and one surety for the same amount.
While considering the bail application, the court observed that continued detention could not be justified solely on the ground that certain articles or electronic devices had not yet been recovered by the investigating agency.
The court noted that the primary documentary material relevant to the case was already in the possession of the investigators. In view of this, the absence of recovery of additional articles or devices was not considered sufficient grounds to keep the accused in custody.
The case stems from allegations of forgery relating to a caste certificate. The Crime Branch is investigating the circumstances surrounding the document and the allegations against Arolkar.
