PANAJI: Craftizen Foundation is excited to launch our livelihood program in the state of Goa. We recently conducted a 3 day Training of Trainers (ToT) as part of our Eco-skills Vocational Training Program at St. Francis Xavier Academy Old Goa, Goa during January 21st – 23rd, 2025. Supported by HDB Financial Services, the program brought together 40 Special Educators, Vocational Assistants, and Technicians for Occupational Therapy from 15 partner organizations across Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, Craftizen’s founder & CEO, Mayura Balasubramanian said “We are truly elated to bring our livelihood program to Goa. We have customised a range of skills suited to the ability of Adults with Intellectual Disability. We have also created specific products and designs for the Goan tourist market and festive seasons. We see so much interest here from civil society organizations, industry associations and companies to collaborate in developing a vibrant eco-system for sustained livelihoods.”
Livelihood opportunities are an essential part of an inclusive ecosystem where Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and caregivers find balance, purpose, and empowerment. Through such initiatives, we are fostering pathways to independence and holistic well-being.” – Shri. Guruprasad Pawaskar, Goa State Commissioner for Persons With Disabilities
The ToT was designed to teach practical skills and techniques to create eco-friendly products by recycling flowers (collected from Temples, Churches & Event Halls), newspapers and other sustainable materials. Participants took part in hands-on workshops and learnt to make a range of unique products including Holi Colours, Agarbatti sticks and Rangoli colours – all from recycling flowers; also innovative wax products, conference kits, christmas hangings and Goa themed magnets. This program reflects our dedication to creating both therapeutic and income-generating opportunities for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.
We were delighted to have Avelino De Sa, President of the Disability Rights Association of Goa join us at the event. He said “we are delighted to partner with Craftizen Foundation in their eco-skilling program for persons with intellectual disabilities in Goa.
This initiative will significantly enhance the products created in vocational training centers for special adults across the state by ensuring uniformity in quality while benefiting from Craftizen Foundation’s expertise and marketing support. Additionally, the program will contribute to reducing floral waste in Goa by recycling it into eco-friendly products. I encourage members of the community to support this impactful project by Craftizen Foundation”.
