MAYEM: Despite high court ban, the transportation of e-auctioned iron ore has commenced from Mayem village in Bicholim.
The transportation commenced in the presence of huge police force, who were deployed fearing possible law and order situation.
The villagers, however, have expressed their resentment and anger against the authorities for violating the court directives. The villagers have threatened to come on the street if transportation is not stopped.
The villagers stated that there is a dire need for investigation into the entire e-auctioning exercise relating to this activity.
There is a significant gap between the minerals on the lease as declared by the Goa government and the ore that is being e-auctioned by the DMG.
Earlier, petitioner had said that DMG before allowing the transportation of ore did not inform the GSPCB about it which is in violation of the directions issued by the GSPCB and the directions of the Supreme Court judgment in Goa Foundation.
