PANAJI: Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre from Assagao, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, St. Xavier’s College and Don Bosco College, Panjim moved into the semifinals of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Football Championship 2024-25 for Women.
In the first quarter-final match held at the Goa University Ground, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre from Assagao advanced to the semi-finals by overcoming Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law from Margao in a tie-breaker, concluding with a tiebreaker score of 4-3 after the match ended in its full-time score of 0-0. The goals for Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College were netted by Bhumika Gawander, Komal Hallur, Sachi Purkhe, and Sanika Dhuri, while Jwelly Dais, Fevina Costa, and Shaina Fernandes scored the three goals for Kare College of Law.
In the thrilling showdown during the second Quarterfinal, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim soared into the semifinals, triumphing over Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona with a resounding score of 7-0.
The first half saw spectacle of skill and precision, as Ms, Swellen Fernandes dazzled the crowd with a hat-trick, netting goals in the 5th, 10th & 34th minute. Just before half-time, Aniela Barretto joined the scoring frenzy, adding another goal in the 34th minute, propelling her team into a commanding lead.
The dominance of Rosary College was further solidified in the second half when Swellen & Aniela each found the back of the net again in the 36th and 45th minute respectively. The excitement continued in the second half, where Ms. Vinoshka Fernandes showcasing her remarkable skills, executed a stunning attack that pierced the net in the 52nd minute, rounding off an unforgettable match and confirming their victory.
At Rosary College Ground
In the opening Quarter Final match held at Rosary ground, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa advanced to the semi-finals by triumphing over Fr. Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, with a final score of 3-0. All three goals were scored during the first half by St. Xavier’s College, with Jwella D’Souza contributing two goals and Divyani Naik adding one.
In the second half, Fr. Agnel College demonstrated strong defensive play, maintaining the final score at 3-0.
On a thrilling day at Rosary Ground, the second Quarterfinals match unfolded like a grand spectacle, with Don Bosco College, Panjim showcasing their prowess as they stormed into the semifinals.
They delivered a stunning performance against V.M Salgaocar Law, Miramar clinching a resounding victory with a staggering score of 10-0 by the end of the match.
The first half was a whirlwind of excitement, as Don Bosco College Seized control with an impressive 6 goals. The star of the show Karen Etrocio dazzled the crowd by netting 4 goals in rapid succession in the 2nd, 8th, 10th 7 and 14th minutes, while Flavi Costa added her own flair with 2 goals in the 5th & 13th minutes.
As the second half commenced Don Bosco College maintained their relentless momentum, further solidifying their dominance by scoring an additional 4 goals. Karen ignited the scoreboard in the 48th minute, followed by Whitney Fernandes in the 54th minute, Rhea Pires in the 59th minute, and finally Alpita Khedekar capped off the extraordinary display with a goal in the 72nd minute. The match was a true testament to their skill and teamwork, leaving spectators in awe.
