Panaji: The DRDA through its scheme Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) will undertake the project of Desilting & Cleaning of Tillari Irrigation Canal in Bicholim, Pernem and Bardez Taluka under convergence with Water Resources Department.
The total cost of this project under Water Resources Department was Rs 1.50 crore including taxes whereas the total cost of this project is approximately Rs.70.00 lakhs under MGNREGA which is a centrally funded scheme wherein 90% funds are central funds & 10% funds is state share thus state has to provide 7 lakh hence saving in total 1.43 crore to state govt. The job card holders under MGNREGA will be engaged for this work.
Further, 625 labourers registered under MGNREGA from all above mentioned talukas will be engaged for this work thereby creating 24000 mandays of work.
Also, MGNREGA is in process of convergence with other line Departments like Agriculture, Forest & Fisheries. It has already converged with Bio Diversity Board of Goa thus creating employment to the job card holders.
The inauguration of the project will be held on 20th October, 2020 at 9.30 am in the distinguished presence of Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development Michael V. Lobo and Minister for Water Resources Shri. Filipe Nery Rodrigues.
