PANAJI: EDC today handed over the cheque of interest from dividend amounting to Rs 12.80 crore to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
“Today we have handed over the cheque of interest from dividend amounting to Rs 12.80 crore to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant; another dividend of Rs 84 lakhs will be handed over in next 15 days,’ said EDC Chairman Sadanand Tanavade
He further said that EDC is a corporation that does not take a penny to function from the state government but gives around Rs 12-13 cr years.
“EDC has been a profitable corporation; last year, the profit was Rs 73 crore, and by this year, by April 31, it will be 51 to 52 cr,” said Tanavade.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant congratulated EDC Chairman Sadanand Tanavade for his excellent work and said that other corporations should learn a lot from the functioning of EDC.
“There is a need for all corporations in Goa to be self-sustained; EDC will also be starting workshops in all parts of Goa for developing self sustainability,” he added.
