PONDA: Under the new ‘Samadhan’ initiative by the Goa Police department, DySPs will take up public issues on Saturdays between 11 am to 2 pm.
Samadhan scheme now offers an opportunity for the citizens and members of the public to take their grievances before a Sub-divisional Police Officer of DySP and get their issues redressed, said Ponda DySp CL Patil.
He said Samadhan – an initiative by newly-appointed Director General of Police, Jaspal Singh, to resolve public grievances by police officers at the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, got underway at the Ponda Police Station on Saturday.
The concept is simple as now DySP rank officials will provide solutions or legal advice to sort out issues between two parties. Many a time, public grievances lay pending at the level of the head constable to a Police sub-inspector or a Police inspector manning a police station. At the same time, some people shy away from taking their grievances to top officials. For them now, ‘Samadhan’ offers an opportunity for the citizens and members of the public to take their grievances before a Sub-divisional Police Officer of the rank of DySP and get their issues redressed, said CL Patil.
Samadhan now offers a platform to the citizens to their grievances to their logical conclusion. On the first day, three complaints were received under Samadhan.
The purpose behind Samadhan is that citizens and complainants can now take any issue with the DySP for a solution”, he said. Not only Saturday they can also come on rest days of the week.
DySp CL Patil also stressed newer to create awareness to prevent drowning deaths of youths at Dudhsagar and other rivers in Goa. He said society should also co-operate with Police, who will install danger signboards at dangerous spots in the river.
