CANACONA – Alleging misuse of Power and cheating to the public exchequer, a plaint is filed with the Directorate of Panchayat to disqualify the Sarpanch and a Panch of Khola Panchayat.
The Plaint filed by Vijay Purshottam Nayak, Anant Kashinath Nayak and Shrinivas Purshottam Nayak (Ex-sarpanch of Khola) against Village Panchayat of Khola, Ajay Vithoba Pagi(Present Sarpanch) and Krishna Punu Velip (present Panch and ex-ZP Khola) is scheduled for hearing in the court of Assistant Director of Panchayat Margao under section 50(4) and 5 of Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994 on 3rd of October.
The complainants allege that Sarpanch Ajay Pagi, during his previous term as Sarpanch in the year 2016, along with Panch (now) Krishna Velip, has committed irregularities and misappropriation of Panchayat funds with regards to the allotment of Shop premises located in the VP building in the year 2016.
The complainants further alleged that Sarpanch Ajay Pagi has leased Shop premises to Goa State Large Size Multipurpose Coop Society Ltd (GSLSMCSL), represented by Krishna Velip, from the year 2016 and to date has not paid a single rupee of Rent to the panchayat, while still illegally in possession of the said shop. It is further contemplated that no Panchayat resolution is taken to allow the shop to GSLSMCSL, nor any public notice is published to invite quotations, nor bidding process is followed before the allotment of the shop.
Due to the misuse of Power, it is alleged the Sarpanch and Panch caused the misappropriation of funds to the tune of over Rs. 3.31 Lakhs, and the plaintiffs have prayed to remove both(Sarpanch and Panch) from the membership of Khola Panchayat to avoid further misappropriation and irregularities in the panchayat body.
