DABOLIM: Protocol Minister Mauvin Godinho said the existing passenger and flight traffic at Dabolim International Airport should not be “cannibalised” in the wake of operations at the new Mopa airport.
“I say what others will not dare to say,” Godinho said while speaking about the need to maintain a healthy balance between Goa’s two airports.
Godinho said the government had clearly stated that existing traffic at Dabolim should not be diverted elsewhere. He alleged that efforts are sometimes made to pull passengers or flights away from Dabolim.
The minister appealed to private players to refrain from such tactics and instead focus on bringing new destinations to Goa.
He said both Dabolim and Mopa airports should operate in a healthy manner, with the objective of strengthening Goa’s economy and benefiting Goans.
Godinho was speaking after welcoming the first Russian charter flight of the 2026–27 tourism season at Dabolim International Airport.
The Aeroflot flight from Ekaterinburg marked the beginning of the charter tourism season from the Russian market.
